'The Complete Metropolis' trailer

In case you've missed it, the silent film community's version of a blockbuster is back. Follow this link to a trailer (!) for Kino International's newly restored, 'Complete Metropolis.'

Metropolis holds a special place in my heart, because it was my introduction, as a teen, to the world of silent cinema. I wrote about that experience here.

I don't see a Canadian theatre-date for this thing, but if there is one, it'll be in Toronto. One of the advanatges of living in this city.

  2. Looks like Montreal has been added as the only Canadian showing so far. I suspect the chances of it coming to St. John's, Newfoundland is about zero :(

I have only recently seen the previously restored version - with the introduction of the stills in place of this missing footage. I can't wait to pick up a copy of the complete film on Blu-Ray.

  3. I've got Kino's last 'complete' version on DVD--it's still worth buying, for the extras alone. Hopefully they'll include all of that documentary material in the new release, plus a couple hours' worth detailing the new footage, how and where it was discovered, and how it was restored.

And... this may be the arrogant Torontonian in me talking, but surely they CAN'T skip Toronto...? The Music Hall awaits you, Mr. Lang.
